Post your information!
Are you running a Natural Selection server? Read below..
I want everyone to post what cpu they have, the cpu usage when server is full (and what map you where running), how much memory (ram), what os they are running, any plugins, and how many maxplayers they have. You can also post any "hints" of getting down the cpu usage.. Thanks
And btw, use "top" in Linux to get info.
Let me go first:
PIII 1 GHz, 512MB SDRam
Redhat 7.3 (Linux)
Maxplayers 12
No plugins
Full Server CPU Usage: 80-82% on ns_tanith

Currently running around 35-45% with all servers full.
It was steady at 25% with v1.02 but either the patch or adminmod is hitting it a bit harder.
My CS servers (had 2, just removed one this week) ran at 2-4% with both running.
at the beginning before all the building takes place, my cpu usage is 20-40% as well. But after an hour it's 60-90% depending on the map and circumstances
512MB DDR
WinXP Pro
20 maxplayers
CPU usage greatly varies. At the beginning of the map, on say ns_eclipse, however, it usually is around 30-40%, and keeps going higher and higher until the map ends.

I check those CPU uages when map is almost played. Means end of map. Sorry my bad english. Always my CPU usage is under 45%.
We have done a lot of work with CPU usage.
1024Mb DDR Ram
Redhat 7.3 (2.4.18-18.xbigmem)
16 Player Server
No Plugins (Runs Halfd)
On tanith, nothing, nancy and eclipse:
60-80%
On bast, caged and hera:
80-90%
No ping lag when its loaded down, though a memory leak is present and was causing all sorts of lag issues. I ended up rebooting the system to clear out the dead memory and it was clear as a bell.
w2k advanced server
1gb DDR 333
loads from 2x 60gb RAID striped HD's (120gb drive)
Intel P4 2.53ghz overclocked to 2.85ghz
this shot was ns_nothing and as you can see the average cpu usage was around 30% with 22 players. The pings are a little higher in this shot than usual but hey.. I don't think it's that bad for cable ! BTW sorry the shot is so damned big but when I resized it .. you couldnt read it very well

Dual 2100+ AMD MP
1 gig DDR266 registered
SCSI 10K Cheeta drives
10MB pipe
Max players of 17 (16 Player slots 1 reserverd slot.)
Halfd + adminmod.
One cpu runs the NS server. The other cpu handles all webpage and system requests. I graph my cpu, bandwidth and connection stats.
http://www.packetlost.com/brothel/
Even at only 16 players the cpu is for all intense and purposes maxxed out. All the smaller maps run without any pigs climbing. But on hera, caged, bast etc, the pings go from the 30-40 range into the low 100's. But as you can see in the cpu graph its basically 75%+ of the cpu when full, and the larger map are 85%+ with peaks at around 94% of the cpu.
Rahter sad when the same settings on a windows box is 40-50%. Heres hopeing for some optimization for the linux version in the next patch!!
This is ns_hera with 24 players
