Especially for early game and for small bases, it can be far more important to just prepare food rather than have a full fledged fabricator available. I suggest that you can make a cooking device from titanium and copper wire, but also make the fabricator more difficult to create as it is so powerful. That way you can still have a survival device, but the god machine requires more work and is farther out in the gameplay timeline.

On this note - Since the only option to preserved food is cured fish, I thought we should also be able to preserve fruit in some way. It spoils really fast.
