Feature request: Greater control over visual effects

I would like greater control over visual effects.
Right now I can only choose between three generic levels. but I want to tweak for best performance.

My concern:
My draw distance is poor with resources spawning in at 2m, and landscape / predators appearing at 10m. This is pretty immersion breaking for me.
Meanwhile, I'm getting spectacular shadows drawn from multiple vector light sources, and glare effects that I would turn off to increase the draw distance.

I'm sure not everyone has my priorities, so building a menu that allows players to tweak video settings to match their desires would be a really nice feature.

I'll have to second this.

Was swimming happily along and a Reaper appeared outtta nowhere. Dead. Was kinda frustrating cause I was headed back with an inventory full of much-needed scrapmetal and I had to go back to get more as a result. Took a lot longer.

I agree, more graphical options would great. I'd probably turn down a couple particle effects if it meant I could get a few extra frames.
