Will I have to start a new game everytime an update comes out? I understand I can keep my old save but I won't get all the new terrain and what not, I want to keep my save but I also don't want to miss out on the cool new features, I only ask because I have over 20+ hours in that's all, any help would be appreciated,

It didn't erase anything in my save. I've pretty much only really built a base in the safe shallows, but the map is definitely bigger and has new spots. I've got almost 2 days of playtime and nothing went wrong for me.

That's awesome, I built my base in the safe shallows as well, I just don't want to have to restart that's all

@IAmMclovin626 When a new version comes and you are asked to update an old save file it is possible to have issues but not assumed. You will get the same additions as everyone else and all the new seafloor added to the file. This is where the potential issue comes in. As they make changes to existing land tiles and add new features it is possible to now have a rock or beam from the aurora now going straight through your base or burying it in rock. Luckily the safe shallows are the most complete area and not likely to see that kind of change but a deeper base anywhere may be lost in an update.
