Just coming Back, Looking for server Recs

Hey there. Been away from the game for a while and feeling nostalgic so I came on back.

Please note this is an honest post. Not trying to flame/troll.

I'm looking for recommendations for US based servers (TX preferred) that tend to have:
- no bots
- players who don't thrive on the stack
- players that actively use microphones and work together.

Thanks in advance.
Wahed

Diamond Gamers has a Dallas server, if I remember correctly. More of an open server, and you have to deal with their custom version of every map, but its pretty low latency for me. Ibis gaming has a newb friendly server, hosted in DC, I think. Also low latency for me, but you do have to deal with some clueless players who don't respond. TacFree is a favorite. Not all servers have their location in their name, but you should be able to find out what servers work best by just playing a little. Oh, and it's always a pilgrimage for each player to play a full round on a packed (40+) game on Wooza's Playground, just to see what you think about it.

Tactical freedom and tactical gamer have better games than most servers, however both have bots for seeding that get disabled at 12 players.

For tactical freedom if you join the steam group you get a reserved slot so that's a nice plus.

DMD is the next best choice, though there are a few regulars there who tend to stomp... I just played 5 games there that were all balanced back and forth matches.

MCG was another really good server that usually had balanced games, but it doesn't get populated that often.

Last if you're looking for servers that restrict high level players then there's dungeon gaming max 1800 hive skill...

Tactical Freedom and Tactical gamer do their best to fight stacks. They are owned and operated by different groups, despite their name similarities. Both encourage teamwork. TacticalGamer enforces that everyone can hear voice comms, and will kick you if you can not. Most regulars have mics on both servers.

I can't speak much about other servers, but they are often pretty good also.

For a very vocal and slightly weird crowd and fun (drunk) times (not so much high skilled gameplay) i prefer diamond / DMD.

Play Tactical Freedom for regular reasonable skill games. If you're of a little higher skill look for US captains games around 8pmest Tues, and 2pmest sundays.

I'd avoid Tactical Gamer like the plague, personally, along with most other players and gamers in general. But hey if that's your bag, lose my number. Also lose my number if you're not team blue

    Why avoid tactical gamer???

I mean besides having to set your name and the requirement that you be able to hear voice comm's.. It's a great server.

What is it about that server that you guys hate so much?

I think the main thing people dislike is that it doesn't stick to typical competitive meta... you guys seem to just like teamplay, regardless of tactic, its not like you're trying to "win"... its almost like you guys are playing a video game to have FUN! (how dare you!!!)

I think the teamplay is pretty good on TGNS (not high skill, but you actually talk and listen unlike most pubs), it can be fun to play games there, I like that it has active admins that actually take part in the community and weed out those "unwanteds"

All in all TGNS is a good server, for pub play its probably one of the better servers in NS2 (note, I'm not including "captains" servers because they are basically gather servers anyway)

hmm... right now I'm thinking about taking a look at TGNS servers... might start playing there (it was 8v8 max right?)

I tried it one time because no EU Server avaiable. Realized Wyz was my comm and he owns the server. I never joined again.

Also imo it is extremely frustrating to play on any american server because the average player there seems to be very annoying and the attitude in General seems better on EU servers. But that is just my Personal experience.

Also Tactical Freedom runs a very Bad comeback mod and DMD is full of other weird mods and skins. I join one of the other american servers if all EU servers are full though.

That seems like a very strange reason to never visit the server again..
