Though you gotta wonder why it's red and not some other color...

I think red is universally a blood colour (although when it's inside us it's deoxygenated and blue). Fish in our see bleed red, but yea, it would be cool if the Reaper bled purple :)

:D Yea, sorry, I should have fleshed it out a bit more. IRL blood is red in every living creature (to my knowledge, excluding maybe bugs or other nasty things), but maybe 4546B could have a different universal colour?... Nope, I'm talking out my arse again, don't mind me...

If the Vulcans bleed green, why not have Subnautica creatures bleed a different color too??

The lifeforms in Subnautica seem all not too terribly different from creatures we know. Heck, many of them are straight crossings between two earth lifeforms (looking at you crabsquid). It is therefor possible they simply still use oxygen to burn sugar. So why wouldn't they use the same elements for transportation of oxygen in their blood as creatures on earth, e.g. iron?

Blood in Earth creatures can be all sorts of different colours; the most common are red and blue, but green and pink are possible. Just depends what chemistry the cells use to transport oxygen.
