My new Solar field =D I had to go creative mode to farm the quartz, as I can't make seamoth upgrades atm because the fab doesn't work.

I normally just throw down a bunch of solar panels! :D

And this is why Solar Panels are overpowered. They should produce far, far less energy and power storage, considering they don't need a Multipurpose Room or more exotic material.

Maybe turn them into solar arrays, which you have to put on corridors and rooms like windows.

Just so you know, not very far from your pod start there is thermal vent. Of course getting the blueprints is a nightmare...

I thought this was balanced by the amount of power they generate being affected by depth. The deeper you build them, the less power they generate and at a certain depth they become useless...

Plus the panels don't store energy worth crud

that is why its best to place them as close to the surface/ above surface as possible

also unlike panels in the real world they don't use the light coming from other sources like bioluminescence such as creepvines

Now that we have flying fish implemented on xbox it seems a natural progression to use the bird-fish poo as a limiter of sorts for above water builds. I have a raised garden section myself for solar and ourdoor beds and cant help but feel the flighty fish would be attracted to anything sticking out of the surface as there is very limited land in the game. Perhaps over time there are deposits we could exploit chemically but also have to clean any solar farms above water regularly due to build up to keep them producing energy.

Now the real question. Do you all have your solar panels facing east? I know mine are.

aye all facing east in my opinion they should auto rotate during the day to face the sun

@gunmetal563 What I want to know from that screenshot is why you spell "wreckage" in so many different ways.

@ Sidchicken when I place a beacon in or near the wreckage from the aurora I sometimes have issues ether getting to the front of the beacon and selecting the right spot on the beacon without picking it up so when I finally get to typing the $#%&! label I'm trying to type fast as I'm running out of o2
so all the words "wreckage" is where I placed beacons to mark the location of wreckage as I find it

Why do you think that Solar Panels are OP? They can just store 25 energy per panel iirc, work only during the day and become more and more useless the deeper you build them. So you need to build quite a few of them to have a decent enery buffer for those energy spikes when you use the fabricator alot or when you install your first walter filtration machine.

I can't see the OP factor there. What would be your suggestion to balance them?

Edit: My apology to all Walters out there...of course I meant water-filtration-machine. ;)

@gunmetal563 I assumed they were placed at the location of wreckage, because that just makes sense. And the answer to my question boils down to "hasty typing". Fair 'nough.
