The shortcut for NS2 created by steam doesn't have an icon and the way I deal with it is change the shortcut's icon to match the executable's. I'm sure that this doesn't look good aesthetically for new players so can you guys fix this?
I think that's a general issue with steam. i personaly don't use desktop shortcuts for my steam games but saw it at a friends pc that all his steam games don't have the right icon by default. I can only guess here but i think it's an issue on how steam shortcuts work as they don't direct to an executeable but are more like a link u can make from ur browser. steam:// ... with some commands so windows has no hint on what the icon should be by default. dunno if there is a workaround
edit: just saw that uplay does it the same way but the icon seems to be right so jeah still not quite sure what causes that to happen with steam
There is no IconFile given in the lnk-file. It should be "IconFile=%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Steam\steam\games\9c418dc61465964935e86db89e17526584e9d3f8.ico" and there should be an NS2 "9c418dc61465964935e86db89e17526584e9d3f8.ico" in that folder.
I'm assuming that UWE needs to define an icon file in the steam NS2 release options. IDK.
I went ahead and converted the included png icon file to ".ico".

Thats pretty awesome dude, its the little things that count. thank you.
Same thing here. I actually had the right icon for a very brief moment, maybe a period of about a month, but before and after that I've consistently had the incorrect icon.
