<div class="IPBDescription">SHELL.MDL does not match server's</div>since the 1.03 patch i've had problems joining some servers with the newly implemented file consistencies. it tells me that SHELL.MDL doesn not match the server's. problem is this tho: i can't even find SHELL.MDL anywhere except in the Death Match Classic directory in Half-life. Or anywhere else on any of my 4 HDD's...
Usually when our missing files server auto-uploads them to the client. this doesn't. possible bug? hmmm... just thought someone should know...

"shell.mdl" is in the 1.03 server patch, so just download and install that.

Shell.mdl is in both the pak0.pak file and in the pak1.pak (High Definition pack) files. The problem is that the shell.mdl in the pak1.pak file takes precedence over the old halflife shell.mdl. They differ in poly count. The 1.03 server contains the original halflife shell.mdl from the pak0.pak file, so the difference in this one file for players with the HL High Def pak is enough to prevent connection.

Just rename pak1.pak in your valve directory to pak1.old or something similar, this will clear up your problem. If you wish to keep your HD pack for other mod installs and still be able to play, download the server 1.03 patch and install it. It puts the correct shell.mdl for NS in the ns/models directory, i'm guessing. Its worked for other people. I just renamed my pak1.pak to pak1.old.
