My inner English major wanted to twitch at the use of 'Insure' vs 'Ensure', but it turns out the two can be used interchangeably in many instances. But mostly Insure is used in reference to financial matters.

But heh, A+ for the reference.

I know this seems like a joke but it's kind of true. You're the second ship to crash on this alien world. The transmission you get from the Precursors turns out to be a warning to keep away, not an SOS. And the people who sent you knew something bad was waiting (due to the loss of the previous ship) but sent you there anyway with no knowledge of how much crap you're heading into. It's pretty much the plot of Alien and Aliens mixed together.

One thing I have to wonder about, though, is the "Final Boss" idea. Here we have the Precusors, who can build giant planetary ion cannons, have teleportation technology and can genetically engineer guardians to watch over it all. Despite all this technology they can't kill the Sea Emperor themselves.

So let's do the math: Blowing starships out of orbit? No problem. Put down a Sea Emperor? Eek, abandon the entire planet!

Now let's compare hitpoints: Starship. Sea monster. Starship. Sea monster. FRIKKIN' Starship. Sea monster. How powerful does a sea monster have to be that the Precursors couldn't just, I dunno, shoot it with that giant cannon or teleport it into the sun or something?

Now picture that kind of monster in your head. Because you're going to have to fight it some day.

    With a drill.

You know? If I get mission orders about letting a scientist bring a dangerous creature home alive with the crew being expendable, well...

I'll toss them both out of the airlock... or maybe into a volcano...

@DagothUR, I don't think that the Precursors are trying to kill the Sea Emperor or Dragon. But what do I know, i'm just a gamer huddled up inside a dark, lonely room full of cables and levers that I forgot about afew 100 years ago or so and forgot where I put the key for the door so now i'm locked in here eating any moss i can get. (MAJOR sarcasm)

*attempts to imagine a Mesmer singing "I Want To Eat Your Face"... is creeped out*

Oh... and that video link didn't show the aftermath of that song... here... :)

I only watched until the end of the I want to eat your face but I guess that they get their faces mauled off.
Edit: So it's only the mad scientist who gets completely devoured.

I know more of the crew gets eaten before the monster is forced out of the airlock. Try to find the movie "The Creature Wasn't Nice" (also known as "Naked Space" and "Spaceship"). I remember when it came out way back in the '80s... painted my opinion of scientists at the time (who else would be crazy enough to try to be friendly to creatures despite the dangers). And more than once in media I've seen scientists who tried to save dangerous aliens or creatures only to be eaten by them (despite their claims that the creatures were docile).

Oh... and sometimes I like to sing that song because it's so much fun. :)

Oh... great... And now I can imagine the Reaper Leviathan grabbing the Seamoth (with armor upgrade), then singing that song instead of roaring... O_O
