Seeing as most of us are interested in the glass dome roof feature to build "greenhouses" for plants/farming ... imagine if we could build multi-storey rooms, without floors dividing them, and also had large planters which took up the whole floor as well as an aquarium equivalent which took up the whole room ...
Then it would be possible to create much larger "greenhouses" and allow for the propagation of much larger plants!
Aw man, I really hope they add the observation windows and the glass roof. It wouldn't even invalidate the observatory, As it requires only 3 enameled glass, and a room filled with observation glass and roof/floor would probably take as much resources as 6 observatories. It would be a much heavier investment, Something you mostly only do for dedicated bases.
That alone would reason enough to continue using the observatory.
@BENSKI
That is such a neat idea. I sometimes do wish that the aquariums were their own rooms. perhaps if built from the inside it becomes the aquarium we currently have, And when built from the outside it becomes a full room aquarium? (Kinda wish we could build diagonally too, but i digress.)
Perhaps stacked Multi-Rooms aren't automatically built with a floor and you build it with foundations? Or maybe just its own builder tab for Multi-Room stuff.
Plus, Just imagine seeing a green house stack covered with observer glass. That would be so awesome!

I can't express how much I approve of the idea of giant planters.
It'd be great if they consumed power and water (so you had to build more machinery). That way it would be possible to have farming be feasible at only the largest bases. This would allow players to have two types of base (a large self-sustaining one, and smaller local research bases).
It'd also be great if the underwater planters didn't all look like 'safe shallows' but had other kinds of bottoms. It seems really unnatural to grow some flora/fauna in what is obviously a shallow/bright tank.
We could also really do with kelp which is capable of growing more than two stories.

I'm not quite sure what you're saying here.... but you know you can stack the Alien Containment tanks and grow multi-story kelp in them, right?
What @Avimimus is saying is that no matter how many large aquariums you stack, the creepvines will still only grow to a maximum height of 2 aquariums.
I totally agree that the maximum height should definately be increased to at least 4 aquariums to get the creepvines looking close to what they look like in the wild.
In fact, it would be fairly easy to allow planted creepvines to grow indefinitely tall as their structure is just repeated units ...
Additionally, it would be great if when you cut at a creepvine (or any other plant) it shrunk incrementally rather than just disappearing after you've taken the maximum number of samples.
The idea would be that the parts of the roof you don't use for the glass roof would just remain as the generic MPR roof ...
That's a good illustration. If i may suggest though, It may look better if you forego the sharp edge and have the center circle (the one with a yellow line) of the roof remain, Making the domes end rounded instead of sharp.
Or perhaps just forego that whole last inner section of the dome until all four parts are constructed, And then the center is replaced with glass automatically. (or you construct the last part afterwards.)

It was @Avimimus not me, but thank you for clarifying that. I was rather confused.

I totally agree @TheLordEternal. The glass roof/floor should be consistent with the structure of the floor of the current observatory, with a central column in the middle:
This also compliments the aesthetic of the central positioning of the bio/nuclear reactors in the MPR.
Here's an idea: the ability to attach wall planters at the ring separating two multipurpose rooms in an aquarium? I always wanted more plants in my aquarium...

If the glass floor/glass roof was made of four quarters it would better suit the 90 degree grid-based building system.
That would allow for some interesting building options particularly if you wanted to have windows/glass only on one side of the MPR ...

the dome would be so cool to have.
Is it actually still being developed or has the idea been abandoned?
I like to know that too but if not maybe if we demand it enough maybe they do it.
There ya go.
Awesome~ Fingers crossed while we wait for a reply.
any word
Seriously @sabin77, don't be so pushy. It's not fair for the developers.
The ball is in their court now. Have some patience.
I'm just ask if there any word from the great developers
