Building power cables like the diving reel.

Back in the days before we had the magical power transmitter pylons i had a vision, A vision of using a method similar to the diving reel to create power cables between bases and generators, Even across great distances.
But alas, At the moment we only posses our current shorter ranged crystal shards connected by energy beams. And so here my suggestion lies amongst the seabed of titanium wreckage.
All prose aside, I am suggesting using a mechanism similarly to the diving reel to create and lay power cables. Where right clicking upon a base part or generator will attach the cable to it, Which you then drag along to your destination, With a second click attaching it to its target. If used at the ground it creates a cable anchor, providing the cable a fixed attachment point. (That perhaps multiple cables can be attached to through the same method.)
Sadly i do not have a neat piece of concept art to visualize my vision, so you'll have to do with this in-game picture i took as an example.

As you can see in this image (though only barely) I have laid out several diving reels between the thermal generator and a small test base. Something that i personally would have preferred over the current method.
Now, If we did have these mysterious "power cables" i'd think they'd be rather thicker than the diving reel, And possibly have a slight slack to the line. Perhaps even with occasional small blue lights along its length.
Unfortunately, We do not have these fabled power cables, And diving reels do NOT in fact transmit power, Causing this picture to be little more than aesthetic.
Nonetheless, I can only hope that these great, Mysterious beings known as Dev's will take pity on this poor, Tortured and restless soul, And bring to life these tired old dreams before the day were i am removed from this cruel mortal coil.
And though this vision may never be visualized in the virtual verse, It will forever remain in my imagination and dreams.

After all i've already got picture proof that power pylons work, as i have a picture of it. (alongside a earlier reel setup.)

My suggestion was merely to expand upon pre-existing functions in new ways, To allow for the laying of power cables like you currently would lay diving reels.
If my wording of words appear condescending or offends in any way, I'm sorry, i never intended it. I just find the usages of words amusing.
Though if you do not mind, What exactly do you mean with "phased out"? I have not seen any references to power transmitters being removed or changed myself you see. At least not yet.
