Height Out of Water Measurable?

I've been thinking about something for a while, and I finally think that I've found something that this game should have. There are no measurements to tell you how high you are above the water level on the game, so why not implement a mechanic that switches the depth measurement tool on the HUD to height when out of water? Just putting something out there to think about, I hope it can be done, peace, all!
