It would be a waste of ideas if the brine wouldn't be deadly to your vehicles or suit. It wouldn't only serve as a hiding place for toxic immune predators, but could also hold valuable resources, making them difficult to harvest and find. Maybe some flora and fauna and resources should ONLY exist inside the brine. The spine eel would be an ideal candidate for living inside the brine and only leaving the brine to catch prey, as it's practically all bones and a bit jelly.
The toxic should damage all vehicles and the suit at different rates. You should die in a second without protection and still in a minute with acid protection. The Seamoth should suffer 1% damage per second and the Prawn (specialized for evil environments) only 10% per minute. The Cyclops and a base should get 1% damage per minute, so you can't just place a base or the Cyclops inside the brine.
As an additional idea the brine river and lakes should get some bioluminiscent electrical charge waves from time to time, making the brine extremely deadly. These events (so called "travelling brine waves") appear at random times spawning from the Lost River tree and tracing through the whole brine area. If the player is "caught" while diving in the brine when a "wave" runs through, the acid damage output gets a deadly spike and the player dies if he doesn't retreat in seconds.
Unfortunately the lost river is missing giant jellyfish-like creatures with long deadly tentacles and still no Lost River leviathan. So the acid brine is the only deadly option we have.

It's possible that simply wearing a Reinforced Dive Suit could counteract this, though.
