Volcanic Island + Precursor Warp Gate

My thought about the entrance to the lava zone in the front of the Aurora is why is it there and how did it open? Well obviously there would have to be volcanic activity on the surface near the ocean for the lava zone entrance to stretch all the way to the surface. My thought was an island made of the material that the lava caves are made out of, small lava pools, hot spots, and a small semi-active volcano on the island. I thought this might be a cool concept and might be able to help develop the story by adding something onto the island. Maybe a precursor warp gate that would take you to another planet, which might also explain why you never see the precursors, because most of them are on possibly the planet close to the one the game takes place on.
