Researching Creatures

Just by scanning a creature we can learn everything about it, its diet, its defence mechanisms, even its behaviour. I don't find this fun. Of course I completely understand that plants can be scanned and then BAM! you know everything about them, that's fine, but creatures?

I feel like we should still be able to scan creatures, but that only tells us the basics of its anatomy (Peeper - Overdeveloped eyes, Rabbit Ray - Poisonous skin) but not its diet or behaviour. We have to actually watch and see how the creature acts and what the creature eats to gain this information. For example, by scanning a Stalker you find out that it has a long snout and that it is a carnivore, but then when you see it pissing about with metal salvage the data entry adds this information, and when you see a Stalker hunt down and eat a Peeper this is added to the data bank. Or when you scan a biter it tells you that it has small eyes, sharp teeth and an overdeveloped tail fin, but only when it latches onto you does the data entry add this information.

I just think it would be more fun to watch these creatures perform tasks to have them added to the data bank instead of learning everything from one quick scan.
