Make the Rescue Pod 5 actually solar charging (instead of unlimited power) - am I missing something?

Just give it 75 solar power that charges in the day, and make sure it always has oxygen (cause it's not submerged, just like a non-submerged base).

Seems to make more sense than infinite power. Unless I missed that the power actually does drop when using fabricator..?

It does drop, by 5 each craft. I believe it only recharges in daylight, as well? I believe that this behavior is the same for bases if the solar panels are not on the base, but nearby? Haven't checked, I just spam thermals anyway. Building a solar panel on the base itself might take the per-fabricate cost to 10.

Ok, just tested this in latest experimental. 1 foundation, 1 T-connector, with a hatch and fabricator, 2 separate, identical bases with this setup. One has a solar panel ON the foundation, the other has a solar panel on nearby terrain, connected by light beam to minibase.

The on-foundation base has a power max of 50, and uses 10 power for each fabricator use. The near-solar base has a max power of 25, and uses 5 power for each craft.

Odd. You'd think crafting would use the same amount of power, not less, when there's not as much juice flowing to the 3D printer fabricator.

The Lifepod's cells recharge at all times; doesn't matter if it's night or day. I was thinking they are movement/pressure-charged, as that's the idea behind most models of self-charging I am familiar with. Might even be they're part of a larger component that is capable of recharging on any form of energy (through conversion; hence the delay), which would make them ideal survival equipment, but not all that interesting or feasible to replicate for longterm survival.
