Loss of mouse control & escape menu when building and at random times?

My significant other ran into this bug on her computer today when playing Subnautica, Whenever she tries to build her base = she loses control of her mouse as soon as she clicks to start building the base, leaving her unable to turn the camera around. She can move using keyboard but without camera control and is unable to push the ESC menu to save her game or pull up her inventory once this happens.
However as soon as she remaps the mouse buttons to the keyboard everything works fine, but for some reason the game refuses to let her build with her mouse keys bound to the left/right hands.
If it helps she's uses a Razer Synapse left handed mouse.
