I thought it would be quite cool to have a tutorial at the start of the game. Read this to see how its going to work.
Ok so first thing. You wake up in bed in your bedroom in the aurora. You then have small challenges to do and as you do the challenges it tells you the controls and what to do. After you have completed the challenges thats when the aurora gets hit. Your character opens the door and must get to the lifepods with obstacles on the way there. Once at the lifepods your character goes in the life pod and goes through the same cutscene we always have. Once the fire is put out the game starts.
If you want to skip the tutorial you can go to the menu and click on skip tutorial and go straight to the cutscene.
If you like this idea please tell me down below.
Also tell me if I should give this to the devs.

That'd be like the tutorial for a Flight Sim happening by riding a skateboard.
Now having more to do on the Aurora before it gets shot down would be cool. Talk to some of the people who's PDAs you find later so you're more sad about them dying.
When I say "subtle" however, I mean integrate them into the story. For example, you introduce sprinting and jumping when you have to get to the life pods.
If this is to be a section however, I do think it would be suitable to only be short.
Aurora Falls - A Subnautica Story
Borealis Rising - A Subnautica Story V2.0
The gist of it is, Lifepod 5 made it because the Subnautica protagonist was a maintenance tech troubleshooting an irksome problem with the lifepod, which was why he was close enough to make it while others weren't as lucky (their pods were closer to the Aurora when it got hit / or they never made it to the pods).
So you'd have yourself tooling to Lifepod 5, probably fabricating some necessary stuff to repair it, what-have you, which could be a nice tutorial.
Here, I'll quote the first chapter, get some of you poor sods hooked if you haven't sen it already:
He should probably have worked a little harder on the panel hinge. Just sayin'.
