The "deleting cache files" for better performance trick - does that mean cleared nodes re-appear?

Performance for me is abysmal but before I perform this cleanup I wanted to theorize with you all exactly what all is being changed.
We know it nullifies all the terraforming you've done, but does it also add nodes back to be mined? Does it add back blueprints and stuff you've already grabbed such as solar panels? I hope not cause then I'll feel like I'm cheating when I have to clear the cache files. WOrse it will make it harder for me to determine where I've been in complex areas because right now I keep track by the fact I've taken everything away. A room with stuff in it means that's a room I have not explored.
Thanks for the input!
