Platforms especially are useful, but other bits come in handy too, and you can combine them to reach spots you normally really couldn't (I mean, a lot of times, it's in reach of your Habitat builder, just impossible to get the 'correct' angle to place it). You don't even need the resources, just place the first smidgen of the part, and climb on it.
