I have a problem and I hope u can help me. First of all let me tell you about my system!
Pentium III 1000 MHz
256 MB PC 133 SD-Ram
GeForce 2 Ultra 64 MB Graphics Card
Sound Blaster Live Platinum 5.1 Sound Card
60 GB Western Digital Hard Drive
COX High Speed Internet (Cable)

But during the nights, the connection is all great. I checked my "rate" and "cl_updaterate" and they're:
rate = 6000
cl_updaterate = 20
I know I have this problem because there are too many users on cable during the day. But, I got cable because I wanted to have a smooth connection without any lag. When I was using my 56k modem, I used to have high ping (like 200-300) but I didn't have too much lag. If anyone can help me to solve this problem, I'll really appreciate him/her. Another thing is,it might be your ISP causing the probelms during the day.
However, since this only occurs during the day, I tend to suspect the ISP.

2500 is for a 33.6 k modem or something!
try adjusting the following
cl_updaterate -> make this higher, like 40-60
cl_cmdrate- keep this around 30
I think your net settings need to be fiddled around a bit for optimal connection during the day.
Yeah, and go to dslreports.com or something a do a speedtest for the entire day to see if it is your ISp's fault.
and to counter flushentity:
cl_allowdownload 0
cl_allowupload 0
cl_download_ingame 0
these should stop the uploading and downloading of all custom decals, which uses a ton of bandwidth when ppl use color sprays.
me, I play on 56k and get fantastic pings (as low as 130 on some servers) thanks to my ISP supporting microsoft compression. and this is in teh middle of busy NYC too.
