I think that the birds should be a better part of the game. Maybe a carnivorous bird or a bird you can put in a cage. I don't really care what you do as long as you add to the birds

It would make sense but since your not on land enough as is, making a variety of birds wouldn't make sense. But i do like the idea of capturing a bird. It could make your base feel a little more homey like having a pet. Maybe the bird drops an egg once in awhile and you can use that in certain recipes.

I like that idea, but a good thing would be more than just one kinds of bird

A huge problem with this game for me is the fact that pretty much every singly animal in this game is reptilian. We don't have any aquatic mammals by the islands, no birds, like you said, insects climbing over the trees. It would just make the world feel a little more immersive if we had these things included.

The vast majority of them are fish.
Only the Sea Dragon, Lava Lizard, and Hoverfish are stated to be reptillian.
Crabsnakes are half crustacean, half reptile.

Gasopods might be mammalian
The Cutefish looks to be part mammal
The Sea Emperor might also be mammalian.

I would like some manner of lizard-otter (With two tails that it spins for propulsion, kinda like the pokemon Buizel) that lives in the Safe Shallows and on the Floater and Mountain Islands. They could have like 6 legs, using two to catch fish, two to hold lumps of titanium to bash the fish with, and their back legs to steer. They would be neutral-passive, and would only attack you if you attack them. They could attack by biting, or throwing their lumps of Titanium at you.

I personally love the otter idea, but this thread is for flying animals only, but I think a mammal that lives on the islands would be cool!

Remember that massive skyray from the first trailer? Imagine that but with feathers and first time you explore the Floating Island you see it sitting on some rocks, and it turns to look at you and flies away. I'd also love insects on the island, and the feathered birds swoop down and pick them off. And small little rabbit creatures hop around the place.

The carnivorous bird is not a bad idea. Imagine a super fast bird that dives down to catch fast Peepers or whatever. They've gotta be quick. However, the only justification of this is to keep you underwater. Maybe there can be some algorithm where they kind of fly around your vicinity if you have more than two oxygen tanks. That way they fly at you when you're refilling. This is a deterrent for staying a long time above the surface and emphasizes 'Sub-Nautica'. I don't know how this can be improved, but they should be dangerous. What do you think?
