Is it actually possible to disable the pre-cursor gun?

Now if this is already a thing, don't blame me, I have no idea if it's a thing yet.
But let's be logical; you can craft a beacon and place it as close to the gun as possible. Then, go south-west till the beacon is 1km away from you. Go down 700m, and find the facility. Cure yourself of the Carar disease, go back to the pre-cursor gun, and blam you got yourself a disabled pre-cursor gun. So is this possible, already a thing, or in progress? It is possible that the idea isn't coming anyway, it just seemed like the logical explanation to me.

We will be able to disable it in the future. Right now, the facility to do that has not been implemented yet.

The question is not where you can disable it, but whether you can disable it in time. So even if you use console commands to get to the facility to cure yourself and get back to disable the weapon, then you might be too late due to it being a scripted event that is unavoidable.

    No, it is not avoidable.
Yes, you could potentially cheat to sequence break, but that's sequence breaking, and not intentional on part of the Devs.

That depends on if the devs are going with multiple endings or not. Being able to disable the weapon in time could be one option while being cured could be another option.

I love the idea of multiple endings with consequences:
    1. Save planet but remain marooned
    2. Escape planet, knowing everything will soon die

As far as I know, it'll be possible to disable the gun to escape the planet yourself, but not in time to prevent Sunbeam's annihilation.
