    The December build aka Precursor Update.

    Steam will auto-update it. If you need the newest experimental build, right-click in Steam > Properties > Betas > enable experimental.

    Wait... We assume Steam here... But what if it about Xbone stuffs, how does that work again, is that also mandatory update based or can they run it without being online?

    I generally don't assume the worst, but you are right... Something's fishy here as you automatically get the latest version, if you download it through your Steam account and I assume also through the Xbox Live Preview accounts. So this entire question is weird...

    Your friend doesn't "need" to know what the latest update is as if he buys the game it will automatically give him the update.

    I note from your previous posts elsewhere on this forum that you play the game yourself. Therefore surely you'd be able to tell your friend the latest update.

    Hm... having a dilemma on whether to report this guy, or just see where this goes. I'm leaning towards the second option, for now.

    I have my nose on you mister @SubGamer1233, I can smell piracy from 5 miles away.
    Which is kind of useless if you're more than 5 miles away, nevertheless, be warned.

    I have both steam and a "pirated"(outdated now) version. I smell shameless self promotion that is based on nothing but gasopod "clouds".

    Speaking of steam. If you go right now and check top sellers we are numero 14. The fact that we are below something as lame as Osiris is however... sad.

    Osiris is a good alpha game with promise. I do prefer Subnautica though.
