Subnautica and the Aliens : Other worlds and general rambling *Warning, Spoilers*

As I waited for my account to enable, it occurred to me that the aliens have teleportation technology.

But how far can this tech reach? Just a short distance, around the planet? To other worlds?

What if that becomes the twist in Subnautica. The final part of the cure is trapped on a part of the planet that is trapped on the moon or someplace on the planet too hostile for the Survivor to last too long, and will immediately begin to degrade any structure or vehicle built there. A place where there's next to no water and the air is either toxic or so hot that you're forced to rely upon your suit's air-supply to survive.

And the Virus has achieved it's full evolutionary potential. There's a monstrous creature stalking the landscape, and you have to get past it, with no weapons while navigating an environment that is actively trying to kill you to get to the final point where you can synthesize the cure and not only cure yourself, but potentially release the cure into the environment to save the planet's ecosystem.

Alternatively, much as the Precusor Aliens built a facility on the planet, perhaps a teleporter could take the Survivor to another world where a faction of the aliens tried to flee the virus during the final days of their species, which could also bring to bear new vehicles and possibly reverse-engineering alien tech, either to make weapons or to find a way to replicate the teleportation technology for your own uses.

I could see a crab-like vehicle for exploring the bottom of the ocean and scavenging minerals and metals, similar to how the Sea Moth is the baby version of the Cyclops, the 'Lobster' could be the big-sister of the P.R.A.W.N. suit.

We could also find a surviving Alien who may or may not be willing to aid us, or who might see our efforts as the last chance to deal with the virus, at which point the Alien can unleash a generation that were frozen or turned into energy and stored in the teleportation matrixes ala the Protoss to slow down the spread of the virus.

Which means now there's a returning alien race on the planet you've crashed on, which could make an interesting spring-board for Multiplayer, Alteran 'Prospectors' vs Precusor Alien 'Reclaimers', each scrambling to colonize the new world and dealing with the other, via diplomacy, out-and-out violence or just trying to starve the other side of resources.

I would also dearly love to see a flat-out 'mining' vessel come into play that would allow players with a fantastically-expensive investment of resources, drill directly through the ground to create tunnels large enough for a sea-moth or P.R.A.W.N. to navigate.

▲ All good ideas, for after Subnautica hits v1.0 -- a DLC perhaps?

Well, maybe not actually surviving but seeing an actual precourser would be nice. It would also be nice to know where in earth (well, ha...) the bodies or the aliens themselves went.

There isn't a none of the above option.

I despise the idea of leaving the beautiful planet of 4546B. Or doing anything to the planet for that matter.

And for me, the appeal of the Precursors is that they are an extinct civilization, finding a live Precursor would make me lose my intrigue in them. "Why explore their hunks of metal, I've already seen a live Precursor, nothing gets past that."

Subnautica wouldn't be Subnautica if we have to go to other planets with mostly land.

I like that the Precursors are all dead though. I just wish that their bases were more overgrown.

We'll see Precursor drones, though, so that's the closest we're gonna get to seeing actual Precursors.

Finding a dead but preserved Precursor would be interesting.

To be fair, most of these ideas seem that they would be better implemented in their own games, whether stand alones or outright sequels. I will say that I don't like the idea of meeting actually surviving precursor aliens if for no other reason than that which is unseen stops being mysterious once you see it. A computer AI on the other hand . . .
