I experienced some pretty hefty lag when loading zones. Any fix for this?

I experienced some heavy lag when loading new zones in the game. I tried a few fixes I saw on the forums and could find online, but none of them have worked for me. (Including deleting the Batch Cells 14 18 15 file or whatever it was called)

If anyone has any fixes or other ideas it would be greatly appreciated.
You can see the some of the times I encountered the lag even after trying the fixes in my Let's Play. (Not Advertising, just here for a reference)

It shouldn't be because of my PC either.
Here are my system spec's-
Win 10 Pro 64 Bit
I7 6700k @ 5GHz
32gb DDR4 3000MHz Ram (2x16gb)
SLI OC'ed EVGA 980TI Classified's
Boot Drive- 256gb SSD
Subnautica running on separate 500gb SSD
Recording programs on separate 2 TB HDD's

I am running the game at 4k, only recording at 1080p60 for youtube w/OBS 25k bit rate.

I absolutely love this game, and it would be great if even better if I can get it running smoother.

If deleting Baked-Batch-Cells-14-18-15.bin doesn't work, then it could be just due to loading up a zone for the first time. If it happens every time you enter a zone, then it is a problem.

As far as the video goes, Magnesium for your Repair Tool is a resource you craft with the Fabricator. Not sure if you knew this, but just letting you know so you don't waste time looking for something that doesn't exist.

It's just the nature of the Beast at the moment.
Up to this point They haven't really addressed the problem except in Their own servers while trying to figure it out.
They have told us that when Terraforming has been completely taken out of the game things will be better, but that hasn't hit the STABLE server yet.

I find that after about two days of in-game time, the lag really starts to kick in and nothing I've tried so far has helped much.

I think it's just issues the game has rendering terrain at the moment. Even in the experimental it gets really bad. So far clearing the game cache is the only way to temporarily fix it, however, it only stalls the lag issues for about an hour or so of game play and traveling.

Yeah, it happens after going through the zone the first time once I have loaded a save game. It seems to be working fine until I exit the game and load and load the save again.

    And ah ok thanks!

    Yeah, true
I am sure it will get better though, we just have to wait and keep trying to find solutions to it.

Yeah, that seems to be it. Hm, ok good to know since I thought about changing to the exp builds.
Yep, that seems to be the only thing we can do. Haven't been able to find anything else that helps with it.

I also think part of the problem is the number of aquatic entities that are generated within the game itself.
Especially in the red grass areas.

I've had a lot more problems with lag since They upped the number of Reefbacks and Sandsharks, that plus all the additional schools of smaller fish are playing havoc with my FPS.

Agree with both of these comments.

When I updated to an SSD (no other PC changes), my loading times dropped from multi-second lag to near-imperceptible.

Unfortunately, spending 2 to 3 hundred dollars for a SSD at this time, for just one game isn't an option for many of us.

Guess you got lucky, mine is running on a separate Samsung 950 Pro M.2 SSD and I still have the problems. Changing graphics settings doesn't change anything either, even at lowest settings it lags.

Yeah, that is definitely part of it.

Samsung EVO 250GB $100 on Newegg | Mushkin ECO3 240GB (a bit slower, but cheaper) $70 - both on Newegg. Might be able to find them cheaper by going to the "Browse by individual parts" section of PCPartPicker and looking at different store's prices and the price history charts (also you can have it e-mail you when the price drops to a certain point).

That's enough storage for Windows, your normal programs (Office, browsers, any programs that you have opening on startup like say Steam etc), and a few games that need a boost from the SSD.

Boot time: 10-15 seconds until it's ready to launch programs and be usable (instead of ~2 minutes until you can look at your Desktop, and another minute before programs will load).

Getting into the game has never been a problem for me.
(waiting for 90 seconds isn't that big of a deal)
And up until the Dec. Update I didn't really have a major problem with the lag in-game.
(I averaged 15 to 29 FPS throughout the game)

Now, once I get the three vehicles and a moderate base, it has become impossible to get anymore than 3 to 14 FPS in any zone but the shallows.

Using the seamoth, is like taking a snail out for a spin, with a hundred mile per hour head wind.
