What the deuce? Whenever I launch via steam VR the keyboard and mouse are inresponsive, and I only see a controller option in the menu, is this for real? Why would anyone ever want to play a first person game with a controller?
While some might like controllers, I think forcing controllers instead of KB + M is a horrible idea, on the level of something Apple would pull. However, I don't think it's intentional.
Also running a Rift, with no keyboard or mouse response in game. Checking numerous other posts on various forums, the problem *seems* to be the game *seeing* a controller plugged into the system, even when there is none. Apparently, when the game sees a controller, it disables the keyboard/mouse input. Unfortunately, I have NOT seen any developers post on this issue, so this is speculation. If a dev does read this, could we please get a settings option or at least a launch option to force keyboard and mouse response in game?
I've got a friend that can't play until the Vive gets fixed (he said something about the view being stuck on the floor or something, which might be this problem).

In the next major patch (Cyclops Silent Running) All VR Headsets will have Keyboard/Mouse or Xbox controller support (as well as a lot of long-standing bugs fixed). We currently do not support motion controllers.
When is the update expected? Recently purchased game for my Vive but mouse doesn't work in fabricator (sporadic everywhere else really). Had 3 hours of fun running around exploring (beautiful) but explored too long to get money back from Steam. I really can't play this without the mouse working......help! If someone is considering this game for VR before the update....don't bother.
I'm using a Vive with no other controllers (I power down the Vive controllers after I start Subnautica from within SteamVR). When I try to launch, I am warned that I have no compatible controllers, even though I have a keyboard and a mouse. I launch anyway. I can see the ocean (beautiful!) and a menu with three entries.
Subnautica comes up fine (and the visuals are stunning) but I cannot get the mouse or keyboard to work at all. When I press F2, a page loads in my web browser rather than resetting viewpoint. I can get some buttons to highlight by moving my head, but at that point clicking the mouse button does nothing, nor do keys like Enter or Space. Right now, the game does not work at all.
Seems like some people are having huge success and can't understand what the problem is, while others can't get the keyboard/mouse to work at all.
Puzzling.
Can anyone make a constructive suggestion other than "buy a game controller"? This was supposed to be fixed almost a year ago.
When I use a USB keyboard, I can play both in VR and in non-VR. When I use a Logitech wireless keyboard (my default), I cannot play at all. So, Subnautica ignores some keyboards that the OS can see correctly. No wonder everyone is confused about this.

I ve tried playing with a controller but its just abysmal...
Thx, but how would that help me? Can I remap the gamepad analog axii (if thats a word) to the mouse and the buttons to the keyboard?
Are you using an Oculus or the Vive?
Just watched his video and was double fistpumping in zealous agreement.
Using the vive
@Obraxis
Yeah I red that too, but the problem still persists after unplugging every joystick and controller.
They should add support for the wireless Vive controllers, even without motion controls, so users are not bound to a seated experience.
Or, you can switch the the Experimental Steam beta version.
