Mac Version Dropping Item

Hi, I'm on the Mac PC version, and I have a repeating issue.
My hotkeyed items switch between themselves for no reason. I can be hightailing from a reaper with my Seaglide, and switch to my scanner. While scanning, I will switch to something else.
Also, no matter where I hotkey my knife, at some point, my player will drop it/lose it/toss it because he is trying to tell me to go hardmode. Have had to make about 6 new ones in total.
Any other Mac users have this one?
