no movement control after castle and coffee update

Bug: no control over my characters movements or interaction once game is loaded. title screen and options work fine but when my save is loaded i cannot move around or pull up the pda. Even epressing escape doesn't get me back to the options. I can interact with an object, vehicle, etc if the game loads with me standing infront of it but that's all.
