Was the Lost River a Research Biome?

I've always been curious about the Lost River. I've always thought there was more to it than meets the eye, and I think I've found the answer I've been looking for.
Do you think the whole of the Lost River was the Secondary Research Facility? Take a look at the damaged facility already there; there are skeletons inside of it and the metal is completely shredded. But the skeletons can be found all over the Lost River, as well as another Precrusor Cache on the very other side of the biome which is confirmed to be a laboratory of some sort. Even the environment shares the same Precursor aesthetic as the bases do. And for creatures of such a large size it would make sense to house them in a small cave like this in case they ran away (they did it with the Emperor).
SIDE THEORY: I think the massive creature there is what caused the biome to become what it is now. I think when that creature got infected it was so enormous that when it died and its puss-filled boils exploded it infected the once blue rivers down there, and even the water around it to give it that green tint. It says in the game that a creature escaped and contaminated the water, and it's widely believed to have been a Sea Dragon, but if we take into account the 'mass extinction event' the only thing that could have survived that outbreak would be the Emperor. So I don't think Sea Dragons would have existed back then, and if they did they would look very different.
So, from now on I'm going to call creatures Pre-Outbreak (including the Emperor) phase 1 lifeforms, and the creatures we see now phase 2 lifeforms.
That turned into me rambling but whatever, embrace it. And I'm really tired...

Yea, in my theory these were already there but they were blue like around the Cove Tree, and not green like they are now
So what you're saying is that the Precursors turned the Lost River green just by being there?
They must of been color dye company before the Carar.
I should have probably been more clear
The Precursors were giving creatures Carar, right? Well, if that big creature was given Carar when it died it could have infected the zone and the rivers it died in, making them and the water around it green.
They are going to add more skeletons in different places, most likely dead from the Carar also.
Whatever bacterium probably transferred to the brine, contaminated whatever microscopic plankton is in the brine, turned the plankton green, and died from the high salt content in the brine.
I don't know, that makes sense to me at least.
