Hmm. Seems the forum software acts as a go-between between an image linked and the user's computer? As if I put that ▲ file:/// link into my address bar it loads perfectly fine.

I was just curious, as I've seen several people posting local file:/// 'url's to their images, and was wondering if the forum was displaying it for them as the file does exist on their system, but apparently not (so I'm not sure why they think doing it that way would work).

Inexperienced forum goers methinks ;) Just like the console folk stepping into this place from their console and asking about the basics, which is no problem, just a bit amusing

    This does not compute.

Your browser might act as an image viewing program, but only on your PC. There's no way anyone else can view your local files, unless you're doing some remote viewing shenanigans.

I think Kouji's right. Inexperienced PC users trying to link to their PC instead of a legit' URL.

Attaching pics to the forums is sometimes very annoying for me. If all goes well, it gives me the option to either insert an image from my files, either insert an url.
But sometimes, it only gives me one option. If it's the option to do it from my pc, it's not that annoying cause i can just type the brackets & img stuff with the url in the middle. But when it only gives me the url option, I'm stuck. The only way I can post the image is upload it to imgur, which is annoying.
I'd like the forums to always have both options, I browse them on a win8

Not sure if that was the message of this thread, but I needed to say this somewhere.

If you're using the correct method (Attach Image), there should be no problem.
