Machine to transmute gold, silver and lead

Hello,

Would it be possible to implement a machine in your game, which would allow us to transmute gold, silver and lead ores?

Thus, it would be possible to transform 3 lead ores (for example) into 1 silver ore (and vice versa).

The ideal would be to scan an alien machine to perform this operation.
Machine that would be in one of their bases and that it would be possible for us either :

1 - to make in our database (after having scanned it).
2 - to use in one of the alien bases.

The mountains of gold minerals that we harvest through our adventures would FINALLY serve something ...

PS: Sorry for my English, I had to translate my post via Google Translator. :)

I think this would be a tad bit WAY overpowered, unless it costs a metric ton of stuff to make (including maybe getting whatever kind of metal the aliens used) to make the machine, or maybe you had to repair it deep in the depths of the primary containment facility (in a secret hard to get to area)

ALSO gold is now going to be used for wiring kits, so you dont need nearly as much silver (it is kinda overbearing)

There is abundance of th emost needed resources if you look for them in the propper biome

This would probably end up defeating the purpose of exploration.

Now, Subnautica tries to be scientific, to an extent. Gold, silver, and lead are all different elements. Unless we want to get into magic, I can't see how this fits into the current game.

The only one it doesn't seem to op is making silver. Because we all know how hard it is to find it. But it is only slightly less OP for making silver than gold and lead.

Something worth considering is that silver, which is often in short supply, also happens to be the material that is most readily repurposed using the Habitat Builder. The Communications Relay, Fabricator, Modification Station, and Power Cell Charger all require a Wiring Kit. If the player desperately needs a Wiring Kit but has no silver, he can simply deconstruct one of these devices that is not in use. It is particularly convenient that the Fabricator and Modification Station have exactly the same recipe, making it easy to switch between the two.

It's not magic. Scientists have been able to transmute for a few years now. They turned Bismoth into gold because it was easier, but lead would also work, albeit not cost effective. Look up Nuclear Transmutation if you want to learn more about it.

I'm not sure why everyone seems to think this would be too overpowered. Destroying 3 silver for one gold or lead, or vice versa, seems to be little more than a shortcut to skip going out for that one last piece to complete a build. The more you used it, the faster you would waste your own resources, and you would have additional craft components to even make the machine.

Really now the need to transmute metals into another isn't needed in the game, there are a LOT of resources in the world, lead, silver and gold are quite abundant in the world you just need to know where to look for them. Silver and gold are easy to find in sandstone as long as you know where to look.

Everything is just protons, neutrons, and electrons. If you can just get loose ones and add them to atoms, you get a new element.

The hardest part is doing it in large quantities. Just after doing it at all.

[EDIT] I totally broke the reply thing, and rewrote the whole comment

@Requiemfang I think that makes the point. I saw multiple comments about silver being rare.. I have a harder time finding table coral from where I built my bases. Being able to transmute basically saves a trip out the door once in a while at THE main base, but if you want to drop 3 gold on one silver and actually build the thing is another question.

I have a locker so full of silver that I converted half to wiring kits and then refilled the space with silver. Resources aren't hard to find, why not have a converter?

Really it comes down to if the developer wants to build the thing. I thought it was a great convenience item. I just don't understand the negativity and calling it OP. In reality it allows for a much greater balance on the devs part to where they can require certain things at different parts of the game without anyone of the three becoming obsolete. Lead no longer useful? Make Gold.

Good luck when you need lead again and destroyed three of them for that gold piece...
