Storage Connected to 3D Printer (and Inventory)

Greetings, I have owned the game for a long time, on Steam, but never played it until recently.

Instantly I found certain things frustrating. For example... I would have had 3D Printer (Generator / Fabricator thing) also STORE items, and IT keep a list of "total inventory". So, IT would come up with the combinations of items needed to make items, not the player, juggling limited inventory space, and having to weed out the various items needed each time, and maybe not knowing what they already have in STORAGE, and what is missing from the current inventory. It really made me feel like I was cleaning my kitchen, rather than playing a game. (Also made me want to go clean the kitchen RATHER than playing a game, where I was doing similar petty boring chores.)

Also, I found it infuriating not to be able to dump stuff on the FLOOR, instead of the "locker". I mean, you CAN dump stuff on the sea bed, but not the pod floor? ??? Why ??? The way the game is set up, I foresee NOT playing it (as much) due to these irritating limits / drawbacks.

I read a thread where someone was able to set up a bunch of glass storage cabinets. I have not yet reached that level of building, crafting, etc... and MAY never bother getting there. I am sure some people will love the Terraria / Minecraft-like petty crafting "recipes", but to others they impede (and limit) gamplay... When "playing" becomes a chore, one seeks amusement elsewhere. The diving and explorartion part was (repetative, but) fun. I have dived in real life before, and loved that part of it.

I did get a kick (and would like to share) when a Canadian friend asked where I had been, and I could say: I recently spent a lot of time underwater... on another planet... in a computer game. Maybe I should have started that with that it was in a computer game.

I have not given up quite yet, but am rather disappointed by what I consider game limits... and stuff that I would have done differently.

Storage becomes less of a problem once you build a seabase with lockers and such. Also, crafting recipes exist as a purpose for the gameplay itself. If you didn't need to leave the safe shallows to obtain materials, then you probably wouldn't have a reason to go... anywhere.

Renember the game is still in early access and these problems are being worked on :)

Why would you need to dump stuff in your pod? I certainly didn't need to. I'm more concerned with the locker contents being deleted after clearing a cache.

I don't think the fabricator should have storage, but I think it should say or indicate what you can craft. Try labeling small lockers to remember what is where.

Building is sometimes a chore, but the new crag field biome has a lot of good rescorces. Crash site has a ton of titanium and the BKZ has a lot of quartz. The game has the resources spread around the map; you just need to look for them.

Anyway, hope you work around there problems :)

Where there is a will, there will be a way... I found A solution to my storage problems... ??? Yes! Directly under the pod, is a dip... and that's where stuff I dropped on the sea floor rolled... So, solution found! I will drop all the excess stuff in a corner of the sea floor! (I have a LOT of "Titanium" and it filled all storage available.)

Also, funny was that ... (I am guessing) because certain items were not supposed to be dropped... (or icons have not been made yet for them) "acid mushroom spores" appear as black cubes, instead of having a "form". Like "ore" or processed "Titanium". etc. *Boom* I found the "LIMITLESS STORAGE" I was looking for. (Of course I don't know if they will STAY there. The "Alien Egg" I left there, disappeared. So it either hatched, or got eaten.)

Yeah, I know the game is in development... and that's partly why I am here. To point stuff out, and share experience. I have NOT YET done ANY building... and am really just enjoying the DIVING part of the game. Like a Gamer Tourist, in an open world game.

Like lying on the bottom looking up through the vines.

I used to do this all the time while diving IN REAL LIFE!
So I am sure the game will be different things to different people.
    Bliss.

(ps. I am VERY far from giving up on this game, really. 4sure.)
*hint* Titanium & Rubber = Speargun!

What I was thinking is that there is a feeder hole, into the Fabricator, where IT stores all items fed to it. You go and forage, bring back stuff... forage, bring back stuff, etc. Until you sit down and tell it what stuff to make, from ALL the stuff you have fed into it. (So you don't have to access any STORAGE box, just the INVENTORY of the Fabricator... (and your portable backpack... and that should also be allowed to increase, as you make (/craft) it bigger? Backpack, Rucksack, etc. style.) -- The Fabricator (/Store) looks after all the items you have collected. I'd make it have an (almost) unlimited storage capacity ((that's a gamer "friendly" solution) or you could limit it, by the player having to craft it bigger, if you prefer. (Just my opinion. -- I can imagine the plentiful Titanium is for "building". Just a guess. I have not yet got that far. Soon, maybe.))
