Switching from Stable to Experimental

I'm still finding stuff to do I've not done before, like finish examining the Precursor Gun Facility and exploring the deeper biomes and places like the Lost River. But I'm wondering about switching to Experimental and starting a new game.
I am familiar with testing software and the drawbacks of being on the leading edge of development. I've heard with changes to the Cyclops it's now rather fragile and that does alarm me. But I'm wondering about what I could find that's new, as well as being able to help test.
So what has others experiences been with Experimental?

If going to EXPERIMENTAL makes you a bit nervous, then just wait till it hits and go from there.
Also, using the EXPERIMENTAL branch, does not preclude you from going back to using the STABLE branch any time you want.
Just so you know, playing on the STABLE branch is also considered a part of the testing program for the game.
Actually it might be a bit more important to do so, since it is the branch that will eventually be released as the final version of the game.
