Black Screen/Crash

I have been playing the game for a week now, and I have been really enjoying the game. It all went well until just a couple of hours ago. When my computer just went to a black screen. Could not do anything but a hard reset of my computer. I could hear sounds in the background of the game but the screen was just blacked out. So after a bit latter. I booted up the game with the same save file. After it was about to load in it gave me another black screen. So I rebooted it yet again. Started a fresh new game and it was working fine. So I tried to load up the save game with lower graphics options. It worked for a bit then when i turned it back to it's recommended settings it eventually did the black screen again.

I believe it could be the saved world itself being corrupted or something. Which is a shame since all that progress is probably lost now.

However here is my output log:

Does it do the same thing if you create a new world and play? Try it to test.

Yeah, now it's doing it when I create a new survival game. Black screen with Subnautica music still playing in the background as it's loading into a new game. I let it go for a bit then I did another hard reset. Furthermore I already did a clean install of my graphic drivers to see if that was the problem. However that does not seem to be the case.

The thing I forgot to tell you in my original post; is when it went to black screen the first time it seem to have uninstalled part of the game. So when I tried to restart Subnautica the first time with the black screen I had to reinstall part of the game. Could the entire game data files be corrupted? If you want the save I can give it to you, but it seems like it states it's a “Damaged Saved Game.”

On a side note I don't believe it's my computer. I have been playing “We Happy Few,” and have had no black screen as of yet. The only time I get them is when I am playing Subnautica. Of course the Unity engine and the Unreal engine are miles apart from what they do performance wise. By the way I am really impressed by what you have pushed the Unity engine to do compared to most other Unity games.

I'd say try moving your saved games out to the Desktop (\Subnautica\SNAppData\SavedGames), then completely uninstall Subnautica, make sure the \Steam\steamapps\common\Subnautica folder is completely gone, reinstall, test on a new game to see if the problem persists. If it doesn't, try moving your saved games back and loading them. If they won't load, try clearing their cache (see my signature below if you need help with that).
