New shots comming very soon
Post the pics dude, I want to compare it off against my cafe and kitchen.
I forget the map name, with the Messhall in it... but it's only got one table in it... not a big station eh? <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
as for the actual architexture: hmm... it's okay, but I dunno... it needs something new to the 'eclipse' texture set.
Still, a nice map.
It's just 1 part of the map, that have theese textures. 1 part! As for my arcitecture. It sure coud have been better but i like it simple and clean, with smooth lines hehe..
thanks for the replys <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Comments:
First shot - Looks generally too flat. Add some details, supports, machinery, etc to the walls, and some height variation to the floors.
Second shot - Those bright light panels lining the floor look a little strange, since you have RAD lighting the whole texture, which causes the light's frame and such to be all bright. See PlagueBearer's article on additive textured lighting if you don't already know about it. Also, on the same note, the computer screens need to be bright. I believe there's a texture in ns_eclipse.wad (sorry Andrew) called "eclip_moniters" that you can overlay over the computer screens and set to rendermode: additive to achieve the effect.
Third shot - A lot of the same as above. It has more details than the first shot, but a little more can never hurt.
And about the textures...well, every single texture has been used at some point, right? While it's true that many, many maps are using the lab_ scheme, I just say Too D4mn Bad.
My concern with the unintentional release of ns_eclipse.wad wasn't with the overlays within, but rather the textures I had included into Eclipse's bsp file, which I had hoped to have to myself... So much for that idea, hehe...

PS. No cafeteria will be added
looks too... half-lifey not really the ns architecture... i like what you did with the lights on the stairs in the first few pictures, maybe you could do something like that to this last staircase. thats just my opinion, im probably wrong...
Mmm, Black Mesa invaded by Kharaa...
I thought of it first!
<!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> all of you have broke with this story. what's the problem? are texture in the ns.wad and are good textures. so it's natural that mappers are using these tiles! if he was making a dark industrial map, would u say that he was using KenBanks textures??
About the architecture...is good, in the 1st pic the walkway is a bit strange co it's asimmetric; the texturing of the ceiling is not that good.
uhm, i'll look forward for some cables from the ceiling and some computer monitors <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
No, no, no.
There are only 3 Eclipse-specific textures in ns_eclipse.wad (well, technically the entire file, but mainly those 3) that were not supposed to be released in the final install. All the wall_lab textures are in ns.wad. They are there to be used. So use them.
