<div class="IPBDescription">their range may be bigger than you think</div> Hey Everyone,
I'm sure you all know about the siege problem in bast with sieges in the marine start being able to reach crucial nearby areas. Please make sure in your maps that sieges in the marine start don't reach any hives or areas that might give the marines an unfair advantage early in the game.
Also try to keep in mind what sieges can do in your map. You might make a corridor in your map that you meant to be of little importance and then find out well after its too late that its a prime siege spot that throws off the entire gameplay of your map. Imagine making a small little room in a map that could reach 2 or even 3 hive spots because you weren't thinking about it when you built it. Suddenly nobody will want to be Kharaa on such a map!
If you're in the process of making a map now, I suggest you do some testing now with /sv_cheats 1 before you go any further. Its extremely painful to have to redesign, I know. But if its unfair, its unfair and people won't play it when its done.

My map has two huge reactors in it, kinda like this:
OO
Now, the ROUTE between the two is quite long... but they are physically very close together - I might have to shuffle them apart (or at the very least, make sure the hives are on opposite sides of the reactors)
Lots of time in commander mode, pretending to run your battle, that's the ticket <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Well, yes, it is, but the problem comes when you can assault the hive from your main base, or you can put the sieges in an area that is very easy to defend/hard to assault.
OTOH, part of playing a map is to find that sort of thing out :-)
But yea, bigger maps.
