Compiling Map For Play

How do I do this?
I've created a level, just a small test one, and I want to know how to compile it to distribute to my friends to test on. I know how to compile enough to test it on my own through Hammer Editor, but I'm not sure how to make it a stand-alone .BSP file.

Could someone please explain how?

Thanks.

while i admire your willingness to map, starting to map with NS is like learning to drive with a formula one race car.

you would be better off with something a bit more pedestrian, like CS or HL..... their requirements are more flexible.

anyway, to answer this old quesiton, you need to compile. you have to get zoner's compile tools and set them up. i do not think that the qtools that come with WC/hammer are any good with NS.

during the compile you will run in order:
    hlcsg
    hlbsp
    hlvis
    hlrad.

    good luck.

This is pretty easily done, actually. Here's the file you need:
    Zoner's Compile Tools v1.6.1

...and here's how to set up Hammer to use it (scroll to step 11 for specifics):
