Vhe trouble

Hey all.  I've been so busy lately that I had to skip school to get in some mapping time.  Trouble is, the new Valve Hammer Editor crashes CONSTANTLY!  Besides Motocross Madness 2, I've rarely had such constant trouble.  My computer has taken about 50 LANs and is a bit worn out from overclocking, but it can still run 99% of my other applications without crashing much.  I wondered if anyone else has been having trouble with the new VHE.  By the way, I'm running Windows XP Pro.  Got a GeForce3 with 28.XX Detonator drivers, but I'm not sure if it is a video error.  Have yet to get a blue screen, just page faults...

VHE is pretty evil, mine doesnt crash, at least, but sometimes if i start making a brush in the top down view and then move its say up in on of the side-on views it changes dimension for no bloody reason, its not crippling but it sure in annoying.

I've heard BAD things about the GF3 28 Dets. Try going back to 21's.

why don't you just go back to the old worldcraft? if you never had problems with that, there's no use in having VHE

Well, VHE has some nice new features to it, and I would really like to use it if at all possible.  If no one else is having trouble with it, then it must be my computer, so I know where to start in troubleshooting.

I'm assuming you're not using the WinXP 64-bit drivers when I give you this link:

Yep, I remember those drivers spazzing out at my video card. I switched back to the second most recent, and everything was fine.

(Though I do believe they came out with a fix or someting... a more up-to-date driver, which cleared things up apparently... could be wrong.)

Well, through a reinstallation and some work in the registry, I think I may have fixed the problem.

    With those driver though...

I've read up on them and it seems that each new driver is made for more current games, but doesn't work as well with older stuff.  For example, Q3 shines better than ever with the 28.XX, while things running off the Q2 engine did best with the 21.XX and 23.XX drivers.  Since I like to keep current, I think I'll be keeping the newest drivers.
