Original wreck models

Okay, first things first. This is not an insult nor a criticism. this is just a suggestion to improve the game and make it the amazing game we all want it to be!

Wrecks are a main part of subnautica, but there arent very many original models! The worst thing about wrecks is that there are only about 5 models for them. the worst culprit being the U-Shaped wreck that's spread around more than the carar! I think that if some more models were made and less were reused that the game would feel more, immersive. instead of making new wreck locations simply replace old ones with the new models. if you did this you would make me a very happy guy! And probably alot of other people too!

But seriously, the U-shaped wreck is WAAAAAAAAYYYY overused.

Maybe it is due to the fact the coding is very hard and reusing models makes things easier

Nah, adding more models isn't hard to program. The bit that is a bit work intensive is the creation, reskinning and collision hulls for player interaction. Alongside that if you add more models, you also increase memory usage, the trick is to create models that are not easy to recognize when used in multiple locations

Heck, modular models could help alleviate this recognition issue, so you can try and create more diverse models built from multiple parts. But that would be one helluva puzzle, so to speak :D And we're pattern recognition machines regardless...

Its about futile to think that at this point in development they'll release more wreckage models. This is such a situation that mods could come in and shine like thousand suns  No matter how long and hard it would be to design new wrecks, code the collision and all that shabang, you just know some peoples would do it for sure! and as lame as some of them mods would be, one or few of them would surely be good or even great :p

Devs arent really into mods for their game and they already said they wont support them so this is more wishful thinking than being serious about it, but im a big fan of mods as i love to try people's creativity in my games so, who knows!

The biggest open world modding community is kinda part of the "creation engine" games (Oblivion, Fallout, That guy who yells at dragons), I submit to you that Subnautica would definitely benefit from something mod related support, using Steam Workshop (after release)

I will be fine as long as long as people don't mod weapons in the game. Maybe download maps with bases for a fan made story. More commands. More fauna. Textures etc. just no guns

If it's possible, you know people will do it. Why worry what they do? Honestly I don't know how fun that would be. Then they would have to make the creatures more dangerous just to even it out and it'd become a shoot-em up gorefest. Don't we have Quake, Doom, Halo, etc for that? I don't think those mods (weapons in Subnautica) would be very popular. Except maybe a speargun for fishing, but we already have the Gravsphere for that.
