A leviathan that kicks you back to the stone age is fine in my book... Well not entirely fine, but a good deterrence nonetheless...
Also what about, the further you go out the darker it becomes underwater, kinda like all the light from your sub/flashlight is being absorbed or drained by "something" ominous. So it wouldn't matter if you were able to evade the big beast, you still can't do anything and in the end all you "see" is black, right before "it" strikes

And yea, would love to see a giant thing eat me.
I always called him Phantom Leviathan "dunno why" and giant things eating you is pretty neat
