Lost Habitats

Ever build a quick base, get distracted or have to leave the game, get back in the game, get distracted by the desire to build another base elsewhere, go build base elsewhere, then discover that you forgot to place a beacon over the first base and cannot remember where you put it? I had this problem. Placed a base somewhere near the Sparse Reef, I think. Then spent 3 hours looking for this base and began to wonder if there might not be an easier way to go about locating said forgotten bases. Is there?

In case you were wondering...I finally found that first base near a geyser in the Underwater Islands area.

I make sure to mark all my bases with a beacon, but I have lost a few along the way.

Guess I get the joy when I find them, probably won’t have any beacons on me though.

i always plan before i make a base, especially when its far from the lifepod. and when i make a base i settle and wont build any more bases. i never start a base without a beacon, sometimes i even place it before i start!

If I ever feel like building a base on the spot, or if I find something interesting, I swim to the surface and turn to pod #1 (I tend to play with it's beacon off, that's why I need to surface) and mark the angle in the compass (you should always build a compass as soon as possible).

That will make finding things much easier, and with practice your spatial positioning in the game will improve greatly, to the point that you won't need beacons unless you're feeling lazy.
