Anyways, the xbox one version of subnautica SERIOUSLY needs antialiasing. There's so many jagged lines on a bunch of the models, so I hope this is a setting for all versions.
It tries to take away the sawtooth jaggies from edges, usually blurring everything a bit
Taking away the Jaggies?? But they're so cute...
...Oh? Not those jaggies you mean? Well I guess that's okay then.
Jaggi are a species of dinosaur-like creatures from the Monster Hunter series; sometimes collectively called "Jaggies" Referring to them when discussing Anti-Aliasing is a joke I've seen here and there ^^
Onto the actual topic, it's cool to see SA get these sorts of options, really can't wait to try them out ^^
I see an entry on that in the Checkins page; though the recent quick update that Subnautica just downloaded doesn't appear to have changed anything in-game yet. Scratch that, a 91mb download just dropped that added the options
Here's some with/without screenshots I just took real quick.
Liking it so far ^^
I did notice though Depth of Field only really seems to affect the background when opening a PDA, it doesn't seem to have much - if any - effect while swimming.
Motion Blur is extremely strong when turning and looking around, even when set to a mere 5. It doesn't have much effect when speeding along in a seamoth or holding a seaglide - just when looking around.
The gods have answered. I can finally turn off all the garbage fake real life nonsense games love to put in. No more Bloom, DOF, Motion Blur *cries in happiness*
Depth of Field now works properly
Only nitpicks so far is it tends to be a touch strong and pops in pretty quick (Maybe a slider for intensity like Motion Blur has?) and that currently entering bases or the cyclops will disrupt the effect when you go back outside.

Loved the Depth of Field.
I thought it only worked underwater, that's why it was clear in bases and the cyclops.
Would also like a slider, maybe two. On for intensity, as suggested, and one for distance. Right now it feels like it starts getting blurry at ~40m, and I would prefer something in the 60-80m range.
The game is too beautiful to not enjoy the scenery properly.

It almost feels like it starts getting blurry pretty much right past arm's length

I think that's because the blur intensity feels too strong. It's almost like it goes from no blur to lots of it. But I'm not very good in perceiving small details, so if it starts blurring slightly past arm's length I wouldn't notice it.

I had to turn it off as it was too strong for me; I kept thinking I needed new glasses.
Chromatic Aberration has been added in now too
Noticeable around the edges of the screen...
I think they added some blur around the edges too (or at least I didn't notice it before). You were right, I was dozing too much last night to notice it. Just turned Depth of Field on and it really starts blurring as soon as the objects leave arm's length (as it stops being interact able).

Same. I can definitely see this blurring off in the distance, but as is I might as well just take off my glasses and scoot back so I can just reach the keyboard and it would have the same effect.

The DoF and Motion Blur hurt my eyes. I enjoy Depth of Field, but in Subnautica it's far, far too intense. Motion Blur kicks in at the slightest nudge of the camera and is similarly intense, so I just disabled them both. Check in every now and then to see if anything changes, but while they're THIS strong I just leave them off.
It might just be me, but it feels like the DoF effect has gotten more intense as more experimental updates have come out. It might be bugged or something.
Whatever the case more options for DoF intensity would be nice.
i got banned from the discord server because i had a disagreement with one of the developers, i don't even know what about anymore but i do know i was wrong. i know now that i was acting idiotic and that i should've just said sorry and moved on before i got banned but i want to ask if i could be unbanned from the discord server. BTW i still love the game you made no matter if i get unbanned or not.

That's something you'd have to take up with them via PM's here I imagine. Best of luck though!

Ok so here's a question, what exactly is implied here with DoF? I mean right now it just blurs absolutely everything out from the crosshair.
Even stuff that is right up close and personal in your face, that is not what DoF is. This looks to be more of a blur of your peripheral view, except it's starting from the crosshair instead of the peripheral area of what we can see

I also have the Chromatic Aberration option enabled, so that's blurring the edges of the screen a bit too; but the DoF option itself still blurs things fairly close to you as well. Just not as extremely as it was before~

I was thinking more along the lines of this...
Well, I think Vincent here is a perfect representation of me throughout the entire video
Points scored for those classic sci-fi sounds though!

There's a checkbox for Depth of Field in the posts effects graphics menu, just untick it
Just kidding, wishing you the best of luck!

Obviously that second one hasn't been uploaded yet since when I popped into SA to check it out the entire screen was blurred xD
May could use a tiny bit more tweaking, but it's great now even still~
