I wonderd about this too. Perhaps replace the PDA models with some sort of data chip or hard drive with the text/voiceover on it (yes, I hope for a professional voiceover). Minor details like this help paint a masterpiece imo.

Pretend the PDA model is really just a virtual representation to a file download. It's just to help the player see the object.
