EDIT: Must remember @Kouji_San senpai's teachings.

Hehehehe, just select the entire code and press that neat little center button in your icons (second from the right)

It's quite funny, but I've never really understood these kind of over the top reactions, shit ain't that scary. Well, maybe I'll have to eat my words once I encounter one of these tits and it somehow manages to creep up on me, like a jump-scare Jack in the box :D

Hehe, where did the guy go at 8:50 \o/

Ah. I had it inside the [hl code tags, instead of around them.

Also, It's either 1) acting or 2) (more likely in the first few instances) they got engrossed in the game (hey, it's Subnautica) and any remaining attentions was paying attention to what their viewers were saying, and they got completely taken unawares. Plus, the Reaper does kind of go over the top:

    Kinda ike this guy:

I have a feeling that these over the top reactions are largely intentional. These game streamers are entertainers, and their audience has demonstrated that they like the over the top reactions, so they provide them.

Unfortunately, it also seems to drive game design to some degree with devs feeling like they have to add more "scary" elements to games so they'll advertise better on these channels.

Yeah, after the first few scares, it's probably intentional in most cases. Or at least helped along.

Although I will say, if I'm deep in thought about my next move or something else entirely while playing Subnautica, I still physically jump in my chair just a bit, even after ~300 hours of play and watching probably 3x that amount. Maybe because Subnautica is so serene when you're not having your face hunted by underwater predators.

I mean, you could always jump like this guy (he kinda has it coming, eh?):

Might is also be that we as oldschool FPS gamers from the quake/HLDM/UT era simply aren't that sensitive to jumpscares? I mean we do react to them but don't go into a "OMG mode", we stay frosty so to speak. Mostly because of our superior situational awareness and instant reaction to fast moving enemies that come out of nowhere...

I know I watch a lot of FPS gamers and just cringe at their lack of situational awareness :D

Yeah true, flipping your lid like a preschooler when you're scared won't do you any good in video games, or real life. Jumping a bit, exclaiming, yeah I get that. Screaming and falling out of your chair? Hope they don't do that when driving...
