Ns_oddesy layout

<div class="IPBDescription">Feedback requested</div>Alright, I'm about ready to start mapping again, and I've got a layout fleshed out here.  I'd like to know what your thoughts are now before I get going.  It's certainly less complicated than my previous attempt, and I really tried to keep it simple.

Hive rooms are green, marine start is blue, commander room is yellow, vents/ducts/sewers (I haven't decided which yet) are red, and stairs/ramps have those lines through them.  And before you go crazy, the elevator between the marine start and the hive room will not be operational in game.

    Nice... though don't you think that lower right hive is a tad close to the marine start?

    I guess I wasn't clear enough.  There won't be any way to move directly from the marine start to that hive on the right.  The elevator won't be working, or something along those lines.

    Small, simple and interesting. I love it! Looks like a place for a 10-15 minute skirmish, multi level bits.

    Looks great except for 2 things, the upper left hive seems too close to the marine start and I dont think the command center should be so far away from the marine start. Seems to me that there should be only 1 area the marines NEED to defend, and that should have both the marine spawn and the command center, otherwise the commander might need to spend too much resources protecting himself and the marine start and since the resources and protecting players are divided it would be easier for the aliens to overrun them. You cant expect to much teamwork on a public server so its good to keep it simple.

    Actually, later on you can have the respawn point moved to wherever you want it.

    It looks like aliens spawning at the bottom left hive will be at a disadvantage because it further away form the Commander station than the other hives.

    1. The top left hive has only one main marine entrance which makes it very easy to defend.
    2. The bottom left hive has the same problem, as well as being fartehr away.
    3. The bottom right hive is 2x farther away than any hive because the elevator is broken. Players must go all the way around to reach it now.
    4. Near the obsertvation deck, you have right turn, left turn, right turn, lrft turn all in one tight space. I know it cuts down on r_speeds, but would it be annoying to walk through that all the time?

    Alright, these are some good suggestions.  Let me say that the layout I've got fleshed out here is not the exact layout I have planned.  There are some weldable passages and other paths that I didn't include, which might make up for the one enterance rooms.  As for the blocky nature of the hallways, that was just so I could draw it more easily.  It won't be all 90 and 45 degree angles.

    The command center isn't too far away from the marine start.  I guess the top left hive is too close, I might try and make it farther.  The other two are about the same distance from the marine start, and I don't think that the distance will be a problem.

    It has a nice web like structure. Though lots of unused space in between the rooms. But it sure looks interesting!
