yeah, this forces intelligent aliens to build def nodes as soon as possible when the hive is dying, or prepare to be squashed by the beeping noise. Lame marines camp a lot, but just parasite them and they're toast. Plus they run out of ammo eventually.
The lame aliens could hide indefinitely, even perhaps bringing a victory.
I personally like the new timer. It was great. I sent the marines for a marine rush, and we kill their hive as they destroy our base. They completely flatten our base with an all-out skulk rush, but then die because they have no hive <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> Marines win a game they never would have stood a chance in. But it does discourage idiot skulk rushes (it will never stop them, some believe this to be an essential early game strategy), and encourages risky marine tactics.

They did still work -but- the hive we were trying to retake went down so I came out of the vent as gorge to build the new one and could not get back into it because gorges can't wall walk. I propose that instead of immediate countdown, have the damage start initiating if the alien does not move for a few seconds. When he starts moving, the damage stops also.

OW what a response. well im not sure if the resources stop building but i knew we had enough to be at 80 resources in about 2 minutes. our skulks were full and our gorges were as far as i know still reciveing resource points. Torak was our gorge if i remember... never the less the countdown shouldnt be a feature. ESPECIALLY with the five man team imbalance.
when an alien waits in the vents his team is **obscenity** cause he is not helping the team (tremember he is being spectated) if the team feels that YES this team is helping the team by hiding at this time then they will not quit to the ready room. but if they feel he is some h iding jerk... then they all joint he ready room making the game end... we dont need the countdown with the five man imbalance game ender.

for those of us who have never camped or never cheated (i am one of them) this game is the future. DEDICATED teamplay or lose. WORK together or lose every game. This is what online gameplay should be. and these anti-lamer strategies are ruining the game for all of us REAL GAMERS. Flayra i understand your idea behind this countdown solution to vent campers... but as i told you IN PERSON, this game's strength and weakness is the online community. we shouldnt fight them we should teach them that being lame is not cool. The countdown is too strict for those of us having fun playing the game you intended it to be played.
The countdown doesn't effect servers in tournament mode.

Yes, I was the gorge. No the story is not BS. I had about 50 Res when I died. Our RES was flying in because the marines didn't kill our res towers only the hives. I didnt have enough to build a new hive right away because I built a bunch of Def towers in a vent to regen the Skulks and Lerks tryin to take the hive back. My res started climbing right as the countdown started. Every other member of the alien team had full res and I was the only gorge. 20 more seconds and we would have had a new hive. The marines would have had to get to the other side of the map to destroy this hive, by then our army of 5 would have been hitting a new hive.
As a side note, anyone that thinks MMZ would lie about something as trivial as a game needs to get to know us. Games are secondary to our clan of 289 active members.

Aliens can rebuild the hive for one last rush. Marines <b>Can</b> get cocky on pubs, there <b>Can</b> be a weak spot in the marine set-up. A simple delay, if not quite 5 mins, would be great. I actually enjoy the hunt for the last of the other team, or at least I did till the countdown was put in. The chase can get boring when it reaches around 5 mins, which is the reason it would start then and not instantly.
actually, i found that when I was a gorge and we lost all our hives, I auotomaticcally got 100 res points , meaning from 20 rs to 100. This was in 1.03 but maybe it was only confined into 1 server.
if marines all their cc's and if's then any dead marine can chat with the aliens and tell them where the lamer is hiding.
if aliens lose all their hives and their gorges, then the dead aliens can do the same.
Do away with the countdown (which can be resisted by an idiot with 3 d towers in a vent anyway).
Forgive me if this already is possible but I've found that I have been unable to chat with the opposing team as a dead spectator in the endgame.

Yeah, I think the timer should be removed or made longer. I've never seen it kill a lamer, but it did kill Aliens when we were waiting to build two hives and the other was taken out. We were losing, but its still no fun to lose prematurely.
What were the devs THINKING?
I guess the best solution would be to add a 5 minute delay to the kill timer, or make the timer only start when there's less than 3 Alien buildings left. Also, when Marines have no CC's, there should be a kill timer too. The storyline explanation is that either the CC's nanobots are destroying the Alien life, or that the Alien bacteria are taking over and hurting the Marines.
If this isn't fixed in the next server patch, I will be quite angry and disillusioned.
