Hello. I've put about 10 hours into the current save file I have now, I decided to finally check out the Aurora. I was running through it with minor bugs here and there, nothing too serious and still decent fps. But the issue started when I quit and came back. I will crash as soon as I take a few steps in any direction. The game loads normally. I have a good fps after the game loads. I can look around, jump, use my PDA all perfectly fine. The problem only happens when I move.
It's an abnormal crash. First the game freezes, 10 seconds later my monitor goes black and I'm staring at my desktop. I still hear sounds, it looks like it's minimized but from here I can still move blindly (I hear myself grunting from fire). When I hit esc I see the game cursor but can't click anything. It does this for a few minutes or until I alt ctrl delete my way out of it. I have since tried to lower the graphics settings and clearing the cache but neither of those had any effect. I tried stepping away from the computer for 5 minutes to let it load and same result.

If you need to know anything else, let me know and I'll respond. I hope there's something that can be done with this because I was just starting to get really into the game and would not be happy to start from the beginning.

Then later:
Subnautica recommended specs are at least 2GB of VRAM, you have 1GB. Try shutting off extras like FXAA and any blur options, and possibly if that doesn't fix it, lowering your resolution, or go into BIOS and see if there's some sort of shared memory you can turn on (but keep in mind system memory is very very much slower than graphics memory).
I don't know what FXAA is. I'm not a computer expert, so I'd also like to not mess with the BIOS unless I have to. Motion blur was already off, lowering the resolution didn't work.
I tried this too and it didn't work.
Ah thanks but no luck. Would having two monitors negatively impact it? Both monitors go black when the game crashes. I just don't understand why the game runs perfectly fine until I move forward.
and yes, it might have something to do with 2 monitors. try with 1 only.
also, check here if you can actually run the game: https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/subnautica/12571
It's a desktop PC. And I did just disconnect my other monitor and it seems to be even worse now. It doesn't do the black screen, it's just frozen in the game with audio and nothing else. I can't even alt control delete out.
Yes, I meet all the minimum requirements and some of the recommended.
I don't believe I've played any other intensive games lately. I just got an upgrade not too long ago. I didn't attempt to play Subnautica on that PC prior to the upgrade.
Thank you very much for the idea. This worked and I'm back to the safe shallows able to move around like I used to.
I don't believe so. I was on the ramp leading up to the Prawn Bay.
