Brand New Channel and My Subnautica Experience

Hello everyone, I'm Gilgamesh, and my time with Subnautica has taught me so much.

I have/had (probably still do irl but) a pretty love/fear relationship with the very deep ocean. I've always loved water, (lakes, rivers, "safe shallows" lol) and going swimming when I get the chance, but the deep dark has always had a very primal subconscious stuff-of-nightmares fear in me. When I first saw someone playing this game (on Youtube) I decided that it was in my best interest to try and overcome these fears, even if in some small way through the game.

It has been a few months now, and while I can still remember the nights hiding in/on Lifepod 5 reading my PDA waiting for dawn to finally come again, we have come a long, very long way. From our seaglide, to our amazing Seamoth (best underwater friend ever?), to our base, and more, every time something new to look forward. Always onward, always deeper! From not even being willing to go out at night, to peeking into the deeper Grassy Plateaus, only to flee from sand sharks, to the wonder of finding the first Mushroom Forest, it's been nothing short of magic/terror the whole way through. Long story shorter, some time after building my Prawn Suit, I really looked around and realized there was only one way to keep going. Stalkers and Sand Sharks are now more pets than enemies (in some cases actually since I've raised a few now), and even Bone Sharks can't stand up to the Mighty Prawn. So, I finally decided to test myself in what is maybe the penultimate way - intentionally battling a Reaper Leviathan (no stasis rifle, no repulsion cannon)! I know... it's crazy! In any case, I already made my mind up not only to do it, but I also happened to document this battle (and Subsequent ones!!) mostly for myself, but eventually decided that maybe someone else out there could get something out of it maybe, so I am going to share them here.

I thought if anyone might enjoy them or my story, it could or would be someone here!!

Anyway, it's very novice stuff for the most part as far as Youtube content is concerned I'm sure, but here is the channel link for anyone interested. Might recommend also starting with the oldest one, as that's my very first experience, and while there's alot of buildup, I put skip links in the description just in case. (if you don't want spoilers, don't open the show more tab)

All in all, more than anything, even though I'm technically late to the party at this point, I just wanted to say thank you. Both to devs and community alike, and hopefully I can give something back for all the hours of enjoyment that you've given me, not to mention the personal growth I've had with the deep ocean (even if it's still mostly terrifying without at least a Seamoth, lol)

Love,
Gilgamesh6
